4 Ways to Get Involved with the Main Street Mural
Over the next few weeks, big things are happening with the Main Street Mural, and we want to make sure you know about all the ways you can get involved!
From brick work beginning in the coming months to the YEA! Festival on May 16th, we hope you feel as excited as we do because this mural is about more than just Open Studio – it’s about all of us coming together to celebrate the community we feel so proud to be a part of.
Keep reading for four ways to get involved with the Main Street Mural this spring!
1) Take Our Community Survey
We’ll also have food trucks, additional art activities, AND we’ll be revealing the mural’s final design!
You don’t want to miss this event so mark your calendars, and we’ll see you there!
For months, we’ve been collecting responses from community members like you to generate ideas for the new mural and help us tell the story of South Evanston.
The survey is still open and we’d love to hear from you!
This word cloud highlights responses from the more than 50 people who have filled out the survey so far.
2) Come to YEAH! Fest on May 16th!
On May 16th, YEA! Fest will be held at Raymond Park. In addition to showcasing artwork by Evanston’s youth, we’ll be hosting a booth where you can create a tile that will be included in the Main Street Mural!

3) Join Our Email List
Our email list is the best way to get updates about classes, events, gallery openings, and updates on the Main Street Mural!
Once a month we send out a mural-specific newsletter with updates, progress reports, stories, and ways to get involved. The next email is scheduled for the second week of May so get on the list today!
4) Donate to the Main Street Mural
The Main Street Mural project was made possible by a generous grant from Cook County Arts. As one of 14 organizations awarded a creative placemaking grant, we are grateful for the ways this funding kickstarted the project!
As work gets underway, additional funds are needed for exterior wall repairs and preparation of the surface for mural painting; costs for permitting, scaffolding, supplies, paying our artists, ongoing maintenance, and more.
Your donation will help create and preserve a piece of Evanston history, all while building our community up along the way.
